NEET is the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test conducted for admission to undergraduate medical education in all medical institutions in India. It is a mandatory entrance to enrol for courses related to medical streams in any medical institution. A Large number of students apply for this exam. Around 23,33,297 applicants took this exam in 2024.
Despite large number of young applicants dream to qualify this exam, they find it difficult to pass it due to several factors. One major issue is a constraint during preparation. NEET has a broad syllabus covering Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, which makes it difficult for some students to manage their study time effectively and, at times, to comprehend the topics properly. Students without sufficient preparation may be destined for failure in such a scenario. This is compounded by the bitter fact that there are very few available seats, resulting in the fierce competition. Even if all the students prepare well, some may still fail to perform at the required level to secure admission to these institutions.

Anxiety and pressure add even more weight to this untoward situation. Due to its high stakes, NEET creates immense stress that negatively affects the performance level. This stress often stems from parents, peers, and societal expectations, which ultimately disrupt focus and hinder students’ ability to perform well.
Furthermore, the lack of resources is another significant challenge for NEET aspirants. Quality study materials and coaching are crucial for preparing for NEET, but students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds or those living in rural areas may struggle to access them, making it harder for them to study that lead to poor results.
In addition, stress, lack of sleep, and other health-related problems can interfere with how well students prepare and perform in the exam. As a result, these factors contribute to reduced attention and decreased performance during preparation and the exam itself.
More unfortunate is when some students commit suicide if they can’t qualify NEET. Losing life is an easier solution for them rather finding work in other fields or areas to survive and to feed family. Its highly saddening that these students do not think at all that mode of earning can alter but life does not come back. Education can be earned through any other stream also but surviving at odd time and living for parents who gave us life, is a must learning for the students. Those Students who are not able to pass NEET, should think of initiating startups, making online education videos, businesses, writing, and counselling, etc. rather terminating their own life, when people will remember them for losers of the fact that they ended their lives for merely not being a medical student.
